Bamboo as replacement for tropical hardwood

The conviction that our idea – PLant Your BamBOO – will one day strike a chord in the plans and in the actions of authorities and those who influence these authorities – directly or indirectly – this hope has been alive from the moment that the first bamboos were planted in the park. This hope warranted, nurtured and supported the establishment of the Dutch Bamboo Information Centre. Decorative bamboo plants were the prelude to bamboo flooring flooring. Logically it is in that selfsame Holland that the house with the first bamboo flooring floor ever laid in the Western world stands. For their part, bamboo flooring, the board materials and the bamboo furniture panels will lay the foundations for the ultimate conclusion of the worldwide call to cultivate bamboo forests: making BAMBOO WOOD a reality.

Action to go with words
In a memorandum of understanding, Chinese manufacturers and the Centre for Research, Development and Production of ADVANCED BAMBOO COMPOSITES have signed up to a partnership with the Dutch Bamboo Information Centre. In addition to the bamboo plant and bamboo flooring flagship, the Bamboo Park is now the precursor to an entirely new, pioneering bamboo product as well.

The product
From bridge roadways to terrace decking, from panelling for building façades to facing material, from beams to veneer, everything made from bamboo fiberwood bound in durable resin adhesive and compressed under extremely high pressure.

More haste less speed
As is always the case with this kind of product, the early bird does not catch the worm, so more haste less speed is the advice.

1. The first-generation materials were shipped to Europe far too early on in the development process. (1st generation)

2. Having become overconfident due to the sales successes in a demand-driven bamboo flooring market, buyers and dealers have gotten involved too early again in an unfinished product. (2nd generation) Terrace decking was delaminating in no time at all, or, as was the case somewhere in southern Europe, deteriorated into actual mushroom farms in the blink of an eye. The primitive reflex is predictable: the Chinese are to blame!
